Residential Frozen Pipes

This problem typically occurs in winter on cold, low temperature days, in walls or crawl-spaces where heat from your home is at a minimum. Keeping a faucet open and allowing a small trickle or constant drip can prevent your pipes from freezing and/or bursting. You should also know where your main water valve (main shut-off) is, in the event a pipe freezes and bursts - and know how to shut it off.

In the event you discover a frozen pipe, from which you cannot get any flow of water, you should call Atomic Rooter immediately (before it bursts). We have special tools specifically designed to quickly and safely thaw frozen pipes.

Here are some plumbing tips to help minimize the risk of frozen pipes, and to help prevent damage and expensive repairs:

  • Make sure the heat is turned on in the building and is set no lower than 60 degrees Fahrenheit even if you’re away or the building is not occupied.
  • Shut off the water main leading into the structure to reduce pressure on frozen pipes and minimize flooding if the pipes burst.

Call Atomic Rooter plumbing experts, we use professional pipe-thawing equipment.

If you notice slower water flow and expect frozen pipes, you should call “your go to plumber” Atomic Rooter immediately, so issues like this can be resolved before any damage occurs.
